Body Work and Healing Arts Services:

  • Therapeutic Massage Therapy
  • Classical Osteopathy

Treatment Descriptions:

Therapeutic Massage Therapy:
This type of massage focuses on liberating obstructions throughout the body that can cause congestion and decreased function of the nerves, arteries, veins and lymphatics. This brings proper nutrition to the spine and nervous system, fascia, muscles, tendons/ligaments, joints and organs. In doing so, the body can start to heal acute or chronic pain, discomfort or dysfunctions within the body. Osteopathic techniques are used within this treatment; such as, myofascial release, strain counterstrain, sacral oscillations, facilitated positional release, joint mobilizations, post-isometric relaxation, reciprocal inhibition, lymphatic drainage and muscle energy. Patients wear comfortable, non-restricting clothing during these treatments.

The types of conditions treated or helped using Osteopathic techniques and principles are:

  • Neck and head: headaches/migraines, sinus infections, jaw pain/discomfort, concussions, whiplash
  • Low back pain: disc herniation, spasm, strains/sprains, etc.
  • Postural dysfunctions: hyperkyphosis/lordosis, hypokyphosis/lordosis, scoliosis, forward head carriage
  • Shoulder and arm: dislocation, frozen shoulder, golfers/tennis elbow (repetitive injuries), post-surgery, etc.
  • Impingement syndromes: thoracic outlet syndrome, sciatica, carpal tunnel
  • Respiratory problems: asthma, bronchitis, chronic cough, etc.
  • Digestive problems: irritable bowel, gastric reflux, indigestion, constipation, bloating, etc.
  • Circulatory problems: high blood pressure, Raynaud’s syndrome, diabetes, lymphedema, etc.
  • Genito-urinary problems: incontinence, urinary/kidney infections, painful menstruation, infertility, prostate issues, etc.
  • Endocrine problems: adrenal fatigue, hypo/hyperthyroidism, etc.
  • Fibromyalgia

Classical Osteopathy (Current Studies):
A safe, non-invasive, drugless form of manual medicine. It is both an art and a science with a distinct approach, bringing balance to the anatomy and physiology of the body.

“It is a scientific knowledge of anatomy and physiology in the hands of a person of intelligence and skill, who can apply that knowledge to the use of man when sick or wounded by strains, shocks, falls, or mechanical derangement or injury of any kind to the body” ~ Dr. A.T. Still

Treatments are based on these four principles:
1) The body is a complete unit; body, mind & spirit.
2) Structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) are interrelated on all levels.
3) The body is self-healing and self-regulating.
4) Rationale treatment is based on these three principles
