Kula’s advanced study and teacher training program is a comprehensive 200-hour Hatha Yoga program, recognized by the Yoga Alliance.

The Teacher Training Program is appropriate for anyone who would like to deepen their personal yoga practice, cultivate greater self-awareness, and learn the art of becoming an effective and inspirational teacher.
Program Begins: October 6, 2011
Program Prerequisite: Students should have a developed and dedicated yoga practice. The training requires a willingness to connect deeply and to explore with an open heart!

| | Class Format: The teacher training group will meet once a week on Thursday evenings, and one weekend a month for the duration of six months. The program begins October 6 2011. Please view the course calendar for a detailed schedule. Weekday: Thursday: 7pm – 10pm Weekend: Friday 6:30-9:30pm Saturday 10:00-1:00pm, 2:30-6:30pm Sunday 10:00-1:00pm, 2:30-6:30pm In order to obtain certification, 80% attendance is required and no more than one weekend may be missed. *Aprox. 20 hours will be designated to projects and non-contact assignments. *It is strongly encouraged that students participate in two public classes each week at Kula. | |
Teaching Faculty:
Colin Matthews -Asana, Intuitive Development, the Art of Teaching, Yoga Therapeutics
Colin Matthews is the founding director of Kula Yoga Studios. He has spent the past ten years studying a wide variety of Yoga disciplines; his primary influence is the tradition of Anusara Yoga. Colin continues to study in great depth the teachings of Modern Mystics, such as Caroline Myss, and he shares methods of cultivating intuitive faculties through the practice of Yoga.
Colin’s passion rests in education, healing, and transformation, and he strives to impart knowledge with the express purpose of skillful application to his students. Colin invites an ever-evolving conversation with one’s self and community, and he is known for his playful expression as he weaves philosophy and spirituality into every day life.
Grant Hutchinson - Asana, Pranayama & Meditation, The Art of Teaching
Grant’s teaching blends precise alignment instruction with engagement of the students' qualitative experience through awareness of breath. His classes establish a supportive environment for the exploration of impermanence through the mind/ body practice of yoga.
Grant has been practicing yoga since 2001 and teaching since 2005. He has had the great fortune to study intensively with Ron Reid and Diane Bruni of Downward Dog, Michael Stone and Richard Freeman in the Ashtanga Vinyasa discipline along with his studies in India and Thailand.
Beth Rutty - Asana, Pranayama, The Art of Teaching
Beth’s teaching flows from the heart, marrying the body, breath and mind to the attunement of infinite beauty within and all around. She encourages students to cultivate the awareness and skills to connect to their teacher within, and to live in the fullness of their embodiment.
Beth is an Anusara-Inspired teacher, and she continues to draw from her yoga training in the styles of Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga. Beth has studied Anusara Yoga intensively with Todd Norian, Ann Greene, Martin and Jordan Kirk, and John Friend.
Hareesh Chris Wallis - History of Yoga
Hareesh Chris Wallis’ teaching balances accuracy with accessibility, profundity with clarity, and intellectual integrity with heart-expanding inspiration.
As a gifted scholar, Hareesh holds a Masters in Sanskrit from U.C. Berkeley, an M.Phil. in Classical Indian Religions from the University of Oxford, and he is currently completing doctoral research at Berkeley on the traditions of Tantric Shaivism.
He received traditional education at yoga āshramas in upstate New York and India in meditation, kirtan, mantra-science, asana, karma-yoga, and more. He currently teaches meditation, yoga darshana (philosophy), Sanskrit, chanting, and sometimes offers spiritual life-coaching.
Marisa Morin - Intuitive Development, Subtle Body Consciousness
Marisa has studied around the world with great masters, in tribes, in wilderness, in ashrams, sacred places, and sanctuaries. With great clarity and attunement, Marisa assists students to understand and experience the layers of consciousness embedded in the subtle body energy field to support their evolving practice toward deep connection and heightened awareness on their personal journeys, and as future Yoga teachers.
Dr. Marc Bubbs, N.D., Bsc, CSCS, ART – Anatomy
Dr. Marc Bubbs draws on his experience in Naturopathic medicine, and as a Yoga teacher to illuminate infinite ‘awe’ in the human anatomy through functional bio-mechanic awareness. His teaching is focused on the application of skillful physiological knowledge, specific to the practice of yoga, which supports safe movement with the direct intention of maintaining and achieving healthy alignment in the body.
